How We Started: 30 Years of Seeing Business®
Zenda wasn’t designed in a lab. It grew out of three decades spent watching how work really gets done.
Starting in 1990, first as Electronic Ink and now as Zenda, we have been observers of work. We sent teams of anthropologists, designers, and behavioral and cognitive scientists into work environments with notebooks and cameras to reveal what was happening at the deepest levels of an operation, and why.
We were everywhere. Hospitals and emergency rooms. Government agencies and classrooms. Trading floors and energy grid control rooms. Assembly lines, global pharmaceutical companies and consumer products giants. Goldman Sachs, the NYSE, BBC, Bloomberg, ADP, the NHS, Comcast, McDonald's, and Facebook. The list goes on and on.
In their operational transformation programs, we sat side by side with the management consultants, at those tables because we brought a different perspective. We didn’t start from best practices. We started from the work itself, and from how best to do it within this client's operation, with this workforce, and their policies, regulations, infrastructure and potential.
Zenda has evolved from this heritage. It reflects the consultants we once were and the lessons we learned through the thousands of challenges that hundreds of clients shared with us over three decades.

Each of our partners has decades of experience in operational design for complex enterprises. A space few venture into. Our roots run to the largest global industrial software efforts and an internationally respected technology-design firm, working with brands like IBM, Microsoft, Ford, Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg, Johnson & Johnson, the NHS, and National Grid.
